"Last Breath" was created as a site responsive sculpture for the 2005 West Edge Sculpture Invitational in downtown Seattle.
Chosen to be displayed on the steps of the Seattle Art Museum, "Last Breath" measures 72" wide x 144" high x 72" deep. Three 1" diameter solid steel rods rise from the center of an 8" square steel column. As they rise, they curl and drift upwards like tentacles of smoke. The base of the sculpture is painted black, but gradates and mists into a glowing brilliant red, charging through the tentacles and slowly fading back to black as the rising energy dissipates into the atmosphere.
"Last Breath" was recently installed in the Julian and Eva Ansell Collection of Contemporary Northwest Art.
A study for "Last Breath" is housed in the collection of Seattle gallery owner Rosita Romero.
